Proud iParents

Owning an iPone has never been at the top of my must-have list. I always thought I’d rather put the money towards a pair of fancy new heels or a nice purse. Erik, on the other hand, has been coveting the new iPhone for a few months now. It definitely took him a while to...

Karl Eagleman - The best thing about the iPhone is its versatility. …And it looks dead sexy.

The worst thing about the iPhone is AT&T which you guys don't have to worry about over there. By the way, how is Orange service? Orange 3G service?

By the way, if you need any advice on a case or screen protector, let me know.

Andrea - Your post sounds exactly like Karl and me when we decided to get iPhones. I would have rather spent the money on something like a new dress or shoes (or saved it for our new house), and he wouldn’t stop talking about the iPhone for months so I finally gave in. We both like ours a lot…glad to hear you’re enjoying it so far! :)

The Eaglewoman - yeah, it’s pretty cool…and, because erik is at his desk all day with a phone and i’m out and about without a phone (and our new place has no phone yet) i’m the one that keep it during the day. way cool and i’ve been very thankful for it on more than one occasion so far!

karl, we’d love to hear recommendations on cases…i bought one right away (i’m such a klutz and knew i’d break it one way or another) but erik really disliked it so now the iphone is naked…and it makes me nervous!

Gail - Ooh..I'm so jealous of your iPhone purchase! I want one too, but waiting 'til my Verizon contract runs up next year. And hoping that service improves with AT&T by then!

Have fun with it – there are so many apps, it's insane!

Karl Eagleman - I LOVE the iPhone naked! The industrial designer in me feels as though that’s the way it’s suppose to be enjoyed of course. The best combination BY FAR (although not the cheapest) is the Incase Slider and the Steinheil Anti-Fingerprint film. The case is low profile enough for you to still enjoy the shape and size of the phone, and the films keep the screen from getting any smudges, grease, or fingerprints. I might just post some pics on my blog now that I think of it.

The Eaglewoman - thanks karl, this is really helpful! i already saw your post and made some notes so we can begin the hunt! :)

Hausfrau or Familienmanagerin?

Yesterday’s German class started out like any other: Grusse, praxis, kursbook. Typical. After learning a new phrase, Was arbeiten Sie? (Where do you work?) we proceeded to go around the classroom divulging our day jobs. One lawyer, one designer, two post doctoral students and a mechanical engineer later the entire class was staring at me....

Big Weekend Out: Teil Ein

I love to travel. I love to explore. I love things that have a story, an old life, a history! Perhaps this is how I got myself into the desperately wonderful predicament of living in Europe. This past weekend our cheeky Scottish friend, roommate and coworker, Mr. Chris Dodman, took us on an all-inclusive tour...

Big Weekend Out: Teil Zwei

Sunday Sunday morning we jumped the 10 am train to Luzern, Switzerland for a day of what I call hard-core biking. After lunching at the KKL Luzern (brilliant, check it out! The Culture and Convention Center Luzern) we headed South and began our trip around the lake. The first 20 miles or so were filled...

Happy Earth Day 2009!

With all the hustle and bustle going on in my personal life, I hate to admit that I almost forgot about Earth Day. Plus, I think I was a bit spoiled before, but in a good way. It’s fairly easy in the states to walk out your back door and find local Earth Day activities...

Breakdown

I did it. I confess. I’m weak. I paid $6.80 for a tall Caramel Macchiato. And $3.50 for a Maple Oat Nut Scone. Yikes! (And I’ve only been here 2 weeks.) A creamy mix of vanilla, freshly steamed milk and intense espresso, topped with velvety foam and buttery caramel sauce…a warm, lightly sweetened quick bread...

Gail - That looks SUPER yummy Erin — I don’t blame you for breaking the bank to nurse a Starbucks craving! I’d be right there with you!

Karl Eagleman - I think the ceramic mug also encourages you to sit down and relax while you enjoy your yummy scone. Ahhh, shouldn’t life be enjoyed a bit more?!
