Gail Werner Photography

It’s a funny thing, you know—to form a friendship with someone you’ve never really met face to face. To connect through email, to inspire and encourage by way of computer screen. I know, I know; welcome to the 21st century, Erin, right? Well, today I’m going to gush about someone with whom I did, and do,...

Tour de Suisse

Today was one of those days where I pinch myself and am all, “Did that just happen? Really?” It began like any other lazy Sunday—we indulged in a little sleep-in session, watched a Seinfeld re-run while eating breakfast and then headed out for some fresh air. This particular day, our outdoor adventure took us to...

magnusonf1 - This was an awesome day. Don't forget about meeting and chilling out with Chrissy Wellington when we were at the tour last year too. (world champion triathlete!!!).
Also, i think it was only 72k not 172k, but that's okay, it tells a better story if someone could do that in a half hour any way. ;)

June 21, 2010 - 12:43 PM

Gail - WOW! These images are SO awesome. I'll have to show that first one to Nick!! :)

Ryan B - The shot of Lance is great. Way to nail it! He is nice and sharp, while the bike/background show the speed and motion of it all. Not an easy thing to pulloff on the fly. Good work!

norma - Excellent photo! Outstanding, you are doing so well! We love you!

June 28, 2010 - 7:26 PM

Andrea - That is VERY cool. I love watching live sporting events. I've never seen a cycling race so that's one I need to put on my "to do" list. Karl and I were just looking at this and wondering one thing – why isn't Lance wearing a helmet??

Erin - photo credit totally goes to erik eagleman on this one – way to go, babe! :)

Traveling as a way of [expat] life

I’ve found that summer months are often quiet in the expat community. Admittedly, as I type those words they’re hard to believe–primarily because, hands down, this season is the most beautiful time of year (statement negotiableFellow Baselites might agree that it’s hard to imagine wanting to leave this little bubble of perfection when weather, activities...

MandyB - How fantastic and what beautiful images!!

June 15, 2010 - 4:48 AM

expat medical insurance - Left England to come to Italy 5 years ago. I'm basically happy with the decision, I have a nice life, although I might go back in a few years. But try it! You can't lose, because if you do it for six months, don't like it and go home, you've just lost 6 short months, learnt a few foreign words, at least tried and so won't spend the rest of your life wondering what it's like and you can always exaggerate it when you tell your grandchildren about it!

But if you like it, you might even stay forever!
